Harrington man arrested in Lucky Estates murder case-Delaware State Police-Delaware

Harrington-The Delaware State Police Homicide Team arrested a Harrington man after killing his wife on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 11:51 am on November 21, 2021 (Sunday), when Richard W. Nelson, 69, called the Kent County Emergency Operations Center (9-1-1), The report says he killed his wife and dog. A Harrington police officer first arrives at the 100th block of E Lucky Estates Drive address and enters the house through the half-open garage door. After entering, the police officer saw the victim dead in a pool of blood on the floor. The police officer exited the residence and waited for the soldiers who responded before entering the residence. During the waiting period, Richard Nelson left the garage and was detained without any accident.

When the police and detectives re-entered the house, it was confirmed that the victim was 74-year-old Sandra M. Nelson of Harrington. She was stabbed many times in the garage and was killed by Kent County. The paramedic was declared dead. She was transported to the Delaware Department of Forensic Sciences, where an autopsy was performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death. A domestic dog was also found dead in the bedroom of the house, and it seems to have been stabbed to death.

Richard Nelson (no photo at this time) was transported to Unit 3 in Camden, where he was charged with first murder, possession of a lethal weapon during a felony, and cruel or unnecessary killing or injury Any animal. He was summoned at JP7 and escorted to Sussex Correctional Institution with a cash deposit of US$522,000.00.
