Carolina McCauley from Perth uses cooking oil to stop her door from squeaking

A busy mom who is known for providing endless useful home hacks caused her fans to disagree after revealing how she used cooking oil around the house.

Carolina McCauley from Perth uses cooking oil to prevent her doors from squeaking, clean household surfaces, including bookcases, and even polish her stove.

Although the video of the mother of two children went viral on the Internet and attracted more than 180,000 views, not everyone was impressed.

'It will attract dust and use oil therapy to make it worse. This is actually not a good suggestion," one woman said.

Others complained that the "hacker" would only give the "greasy look and feel" around the house.

A woman said that pets "love" hinges lubricated with cooking oil.

"About 15 years ago, we actually sprayed cooking spray on the hinge, and the cat was licking the hinge in the middle of the night," she said with a smile.

But some people thank the popular Instagram star for sharing these tips.

In the video, Carolina showed her 678,000 fans how to spray oil on their hinges.

She also told them to mix equal amounts of water and vinegar with half a teaspoon of olive oil to wipe hard surfaces in the home.
