Baby Buddies Storytime (Ages 0-1): Taylor Community Library, Taylor. July 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 3-3:30 p.m. Weekly story time is aimed toward parents with infants (ages 0-1), older siblings are welcome. We will have lap time and read several books together. Evening Storytime (Ages 0-8): Taylor Community Library, Taylor. July 6, 13, 20 and 27, from 6-6:30 p.m. Join us for Evening Storytime to help kids get their final wiggles out before bedtime! All ages are welcome, but this storytime is aimed towards ages 3-8. Parents must attend Storytime with their children. No children may be left unattended during Storytime. Roaring Thunder for Vets: A Wounded America charity motorcycle ride, is returning this year from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 to raise $30,000 for local veterans. To encourage participation in the fundraiser, the City of Romulus is hosting food and games from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Romulus Historical Park. Starting at promptly 10:30 a.m., the Roaring Thunder for Vets motorcycle ride will depart from and conclude at the Motown Harley-Davidson dealership in Taylor, Michigan (14100 Telegraph Rd). The entry fee to participate is $25 per ride and $10 per passenger. Veterans ride for free. Local businesses can sponsor a motorcycle for $250. For more information, visit www.taylorrotary.org.

Mosaic Mobile Youth Theater: Taylor Community Library, Taylor. July 8, from 2-4 p.m. Detroit’s Mosaic Youth Theater program presents Mosaic Mobile, with a small team of teenagers setting up an outdoor stage to perform some short performances. Drop-In Gaming: Taylor Community Library, Taylor. July 9, from 2-4 p.m. Ages 8-18. Join us for an afternoon of video games, board games, and other activities! Every other Saturday in July and August, we will reserve our community meeting rooms for kids and teens to play co-op games on our Nintendo Switch, set up tables with various board and card games, and also have some outdoor games available if weather permits. Lego Club: Taylor Community Library, Taylor. July 11, 18 and 25, from 6-7 p.m. Do you love Legos? Join our Lego Club. Every Monday we will challenge you to make something relating to that week’s theme. City of Taylor’s Friday Family Fun Days: Sheridan Pavilion in Heritage Park, Taylor. July 15, from 12-4 p.m. Looking for some summertime fun? Join the City of Taylor at the Sheridan Pavilion in Heritage Park 12-4pm for free bounce houses, kids crafts, outdoor games, special guest visitors, Taylor Made Market vendors, and more! This event takes place every third Friday in June, July, August, and September. Monumental Vacation Bible School: At the Salvation Army Downriver Corps Community Center, 1250 Biddle, Wyandotte, from July 11-15,  with a celebration during our Sunday service on July 17. At Monumental, kids explore the sunbaked Southwestern desert as they dig into God’s great love. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and devour yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible Adventures, learn from Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love and more. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with a Canyon Closing that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Monumental is for kids ages 5 to 14 and will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Textile Lab: Taylor Community Library, Taylor. July 12, 19 and 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Textile Lab is a weekly lab for textile crafters to come together and work on their projects. If you love to quilt, sew, knit, crochet, embroider, needlepoint, or any other textile crafting, this is the place for you!  An instructor will be available to teach you how to quilt, or to guide you on your projects. Storywalk for June/July: Taylor Community Library, Fletcher Park, Taylor, located between Pardee and Racho Rd., and Northline and Eureka. Permanent exhibit. June/July featured book is “Once Upon a Jungle” by Laura Knowles. Community members can follow the path throughout the park to read a book in its entirety presented on 16 individual panels. Hike in Airport Natural Area: Sponsored by the Grosse Ile Nature & Land Conservancy, enter at 28820 East River Rd, Grosse Ile, from 1-4 p.m. Event runs through Sunday, Oct. 30. GINLC hosts will be available to open the trails of the Airport Natural Area every Sunday from May to October. Mental Illness Support Group: For relatives and friends of the mentally Ill in the Downriver area meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn, 600 N.Brady, in Mitchell Hall. Another support group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, starting on July 20, at 10 a.m., at the Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital’s Rehabilitation Bldg. on the 2nd floor, room 232. Wear a mask and enter the hospital at the main entrance for a Covid-19 check. Then you will follow the letter A on the wall signs and take the Allen  elevators to the 2nd floor. Seamstresses Needed: Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care is seeking volunteer seamstresses to help with the making of memory bears. Memory Bears are made from the clothing that once belonged to a loved one and can bring comfort and peace for grieving family members. All materials are provided. Palliative Care Volunteers Needed: Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care is seeking compassionate people to provide volunteer support to terminally ill patients and their families. Heart to Heart Hospice Volunteers needed: Heart to Heart Hospice is looking for downriver community members to join the group’s team of volunteers, who will visit with patients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to help increase their quality of life during their finals days. Visits can provide friendship, compassion and distraction from their prognosis. Activities that clients might enjoy are being read to, watching television together, talking about who and where they’ve been, their families, hearing about your day, playing cards, and so much more. Most importantly, we are looking for volunteers to provide their time, talent, and to have compassion and empathy. Heart to Heart serves Allen Park, Canton, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Southgate, Taylor, Westland, Ypsilanti and beyond.
