Manchester United are interested in bringing in Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann to provide cover between the sticks, according to the Manchester Evening News .

Dean Henderson has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer, with the goalkeeper keen to get more game-time next season.

There were claims that he was very close to sealing a move to Newcastle United this summer but those suggestions were wide of the mark.

Still, the departure of the second-choice shot-stopper remains a possibility and the Red Devils are looking at goalkeepers who could come in as their new number 2 to David de Gea.

Newcastle shot-stopper Karl Darlow is one name under consideration and a swap deal involving the Magpies goalkeeper and Henderson has been mooted.

The Red Devils are also taking a look at Bachmann, who is preparing for life in the Championship following Watford’s relegation from the Premier League.

The Austria international made 12 Premier League appearances for the Hornets in the recently-concluded campaign and did not keep a single clean sheet, conceding 28 goals in the process.

Watford are losing former Red Devils goalkeeper Ben Foster in the summer and it remains to be seen if they are willing to part with another custodian if the Old Trafford outfit come knocking on their door.
