Progressive group polling finds Ron DeSantis may be in a closer race than expected

A poll released by two Florida progressive groups suggest Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis may face more resistance to re-election than expected.

Survey results released by Progress Florida and Florida Watch show 47% of registered voters intend to vote for DeSantis for re-election, while 44% intend to vote for U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist. DeSantis leads Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, 49%-43%. (After initially reporting that DeSantis was up five points versus a generic Democratic, Florida Politics asked for more detail on the head-to-head match-ups and we were provided those details.)

The Democratic nominee will be chosen in an Aug. 23 Primary.

Pollsters Geoff Puryear and Annika Ramnath both say there’s no shaking the fact DeSantis holds an edge “but by less than many would expect.”

“Given his financial advantage DeSantis remains a favorite to win re-election, but his polarizing nature could put a ceiling on his support,” a polling memo reads.

Crist’s campaign hailed the results.

“This poll again cements Charlie Crist as the best candidate to defeat Ron DeSantis. And for the fall, it proves that Florida remains a critical battleground state,” said Samantha Ramirez, spokesperson. “Floridians are uniting behind Charlie to make Ron a one-term governor. And the rest of the country is waking up to the fact that this race will be a marquee battle with major national implications.”

Pollsters found DeSantis holds near universal name recognition but voters have strong feelings as a result. About 50% of viewers hold a favorable view, with 39% saying they view him “very favorably.” But 48% have an unfavorable view, and 40% see him “very unfavorably.”

Pollsters stressed the electorate leaned right. About 41% of those polled were Republicans compared to 37% Democrats and 22% with no party affiliation.

“For the last decade the Republican advantage has never been bigger than 2 points. By party identification the sample is 47% Republican and 44% Democrat,” pollsetrs said.

It was also an electorate that dislikes a frequent foil of DeSantis, unpopular Democratic President Joe Biden. About 57% of those polled see Biden unfavorable and just 40% view him favorably.

The poll found Democratic viewers motivated regardless in part because of the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade. DeSantis signed a 15-week abortion ban this year anticipating that ruling.

The Hub conducted the poll using Clarity Campaigns and a panel of Florida registered voters

About 2,244 registered Florida voters weighted to reflect a midterm electorate favorable to Republicans. Respondents were surveyed between July 26 and 31.

Here is the polling memo:

Sand bag Poll. Are you kidding me. He’s in the lead by at least 5%, and the b s machine somehow makes him the victim, and opposition the winner. Under any reasonable metric, he’s up by 15%, easily.

What a crock of manure. He wins with 60% of vote. How Disgraceful.

– Vote RED for Mini Hitler – Vote RED for election thieves like Trump – Vote RED for anti-government terrorists – Vote RED for fraudsters and grifters – Vote RED for fake religious people – Vote RED for forced birth of meth babies and crack babies like Tom!!!!

Considering he won by a hair against Gillum, who was a terrible candidate, I’d say that this is rather believable. Especially against Crist who was a popular governor.

That’s strange, a Washington Post poll in 2009 said that Charlie Crist was one of the most overrated Governors in America. Of course he was a Republican then, so that could be the reason. Now that he’s a Democrat, all is forgiven.

Just blow him already and get it over with

DeSantis never broke 50% when he won in 2018. And he’s governed like a far right dictator.

DeSantis is high off his own supply. Hope it comes back to bite him.

He nearly lost to a guy who did drugs in his hotel. And that was before he started killing his own voters with COVID monkey pox and giving his wife cancer from being so radioactive lol

Sorry, Democrats, you give each other the monkey pox. Just can’t stay away from the tailgate. LOL

It’s going to be like COVID. All the red states are going to want to keep it for themselves lol

Not exactly. This will be a blue state phenomenon because that’s where the tailgunners hang out. LOL

“This will be a blue state phenomenon”

That’s what you said about COVID before it heard you went over there and started doing gods work lol

^ Yet another stupid comment from Jake the snake terrorist supporter.

“Under any reasonable metric, he’s up by 15%, easily” He won the last election by less than 1%, and that was before his bumbling of Covid killed nearly 80K Floridians, and before he started all this idiotic culture war nonsense.

You really are a fucking moron. FL’s deaths due to covid are right in line with all those blue states who locked down for a year and a half. You’d know that if you paid attention, or weren’t lying about it. And he barely won the first time because he was raw and untested, nobody knew he’d be a great governor. And the culture war? He didn’t start it, you and your fellow lovers of the smell of butthole started it. He’s just fiiiiiiiiiiiinally fighting back, and that’s what you gays hate.

“He’s had a lead by at least five points”

Oh no did COVID get to more of his voters? Lol

No, he *had* a lead, but he keeps maiming his supporters with COVID-19. It’s quite impressive, really.

If you can’t trust a bunch of “progressives” (COMMIES) to conduct a fair and legit poll, who can you trust, right Komrades!!? Remember, it is not who votes, but who counts the votes.

^ Neo nazi conspiracy theorist and terrorist supporter. When Dems are finally able to govern the state…then the terrorist militias will be annihilated. Until then we must endure these idiots.

It is YOUR party BLUE that supports terrorism. I give you Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

Ashli Babbitt disagrees. I asked her on the Ouija board!!!!!

Don’t make it so complicated. You just have to use a door. Lol

Vote Democrat for antifa, monkeypox, and crime.

^ Vote RED for neo nazi propagandists and trolls like Jake Wilson

Laughing Ass Off! Lots. Great one. Don’t be so mean, you can’t blame or hold soros Manchurian nation accountable. Racist, anti Semitic, in insensitive.

Just a bunch of bastards, corsin lead bastard.

Whenever somebody brings up Antifa, you know you’re dealing with a knuckle dragging moron.

Five percent is a walkover and boosts DeSantis to national contention in two years, if he wants it. Even more important, five percent kicks the slats out from under Crist’s career. Good job! Hell, five percent could happen in Pinellas just on registration, the way it’s going.

So are you the guy who got himself kicked off of the Howard Stern show for being too weird (if such a thing can be imagined) or did you just borrow his i.d., along with Corsin’s?

Fella by the name of Joe Corsin. Stage Delicatessen…54..7th avenue. I left him for dead riiiiight…

I’m sure most Republicans plan to vote on Election Day unless it rains or the traffic sucks, but so far there is a rather large Democratic tilt in Pinellas voter turnout.

It got your drawers in a knot though.

Progressive unhappiness with Joe Biden’s slow moving response to his promise’s made …. DOES NOT TRANSLATE to votes for Ron DeSantis or any Republican anywhere.

Voters in Florida will ask themselves if they want four more years of DeSantis’s DAILY “culture wars” meant to divide America.

Culture wars? How so? You mean the thousands that move here every month? All shapes and sizes, colors, religion’s. This culture war is purely Democrat propaganda. You probably subscribe to the Sun-Sentinel.

^ This guy is pretty removed from reality to the point of legal insanity. Also he’s on here like everyone else but accusing others of not working??? And everyone else is crazy but him? By God this man needs inpatient psychiatric treatment…

What would one expect from a progressive poll.

On 538.com— Nate Silver Polling sight for ABC News , it says “Both Florida Watch and Progress Florida are partisan sponsors for the Democratic Party.

Again, the only poll that will count will be the one on Nov. 8. Partisan pollsters often conduct push polls to force you into giving a preplanned answer. I got from the GOP a few years back. I say work for your candidate and ignore the static.

This is the only non-inflammatory post I’ve seen here. You’re right.

Yeah… and Gillum was supposed to beat DeSantis by 5+ points. Hillary was supposed to beat Trump by 5 points. Biden was supposed to beat Trump.

The polls in Florida ALWAYS skew in favor of the Democrat.

The polling sounds correct since we know only Democrats and F. P. employees were polled. Likely no Blacks or Hispanics were asked to participate because 86.23% of those fine Americans will be voting ABD (Anyone But Democrats) Keep those polls coming America loves a good old fashoned @55 whooping. And it will be 86.23% more entertaning if your side pumps up the polling numbers even higher. Thank you.

I am just deciding what preferable word is better peasants or poverty sticken

My opinion is that there are 2 unknowns- Pro-choice group fired up. Homeowners Insurance tripling! Will they come out and vote in droves.

“A poll released by two Florida progressive groups suggest Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis may face more resistance to re-election than expected.”

The same fake news written by the same fake journalist on the same day.

The article even states that they are polls by “progressive” groups. Nate Silver’s site ranks these pollsters are Democrat polls. So they are biased. And they are not even based on likely voters.

This means DeSantis leads by 3 points even in the most Democrat-favorable polling methodology. The poll also shows 57% unfavorable rating for Joe Biden in Florida. Again, that’s a Democrat pollster saying that.
