"Silent Night" is one of the most popular Christmas hymns in the world. As evidenced by the famous "Silent Night" truce during World War I, it brought people together and even connected them across hostility. Traditionally, it also ended the Christmas Eve service, as the congregation lit candles and sang together to celebrate the birth of Christ.

Last year, when they were unable to gather in the sanctuary for worship, the Los Alamos First United Methodist Church sent candles to their members with the words "Silent Night" and invited them to invite their neighbors to gather on the street. sing together.

The response they received was very positive. Even though they will gather at 5pm and 7pm on December 24 for Christmas Eve worship, they still invite neighbors to gather outside their home at 8:30 to sing "Silent Night".

If you want to participate and start a new tradition in your community, we encourage you to go to the church at 715 Diamond Drive and pick up a pack of candles outside the front door, then give some to your neighbors and invite them to sing together. Each pack contains two candles and lyrics. If you need additional candles, please call the church office at 662-6277. You can also simply use the candles in your own home.

With prayers of peace, hope, joy and love, help UMC help break the darkness and bring light to the world.
