Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in an area off Shaw Road.

The woman, who asked to not be identified for WRAL News, said she wanted to tell her story to help police catch the man and stop this from happening to someone else.

The woman said the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. The woman said she heard a knock on her door and thought it was a friend from across the street.

"I really thought it was [my friend] coming over because normally he's the only one that would come over this late so I came up here and said, 'Is it you?' The person said, 'Yeah.' I went to open the door ... he pushed in," the woman said.

The woman said a man forced his way into her home, took her to the back bedroom and raped her.

"I keep trying to scream because, you know, you can hear outside when you scream," the woman said.

She said that she thought that he was going to kill her when he put his hands around her throat.

"I started to scream, and that's when he really grabbed me ... he put his hands here and then, I couldn't breathe," the woman said. "I was scared to death ... he said, 'I'm going to kill you if you don't do what I said.'"

The woman said the ordeal went on for about 30 minutes before he left her home in a heavy-duty dually pickup truck with Virginia tags. The woman said before the man left he put her down her cellphone that he picked up when he came in.

"He erased everything off the phone so I left the phone here to get fingerprints. I know they could have got the fingerprints. He's the only one that touched it besides me," the woman said.

Police said they're hoping someone has video from a security camera in this area from late Saturday night into early Sunday morning that might help them identify that vehicle and lead to a suspect in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective A. Blake at 910-433-1542 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
