Gainesville Modern Quilt: From now until January 30, Hotel Indigo, Celebration Pointe, 4949 Celebration Pointe Ave. More than 20 quilts made by members of the guild will be exhibited. Participants will have the option to buy some quilts. Gainesville Modern Quilt is the local branch of the International Modern Quilt Association. The group meets once a month to learn new skills, plan projects and activities.

Between heaven and earth, paintings by Irene Harris: from now until January 15, 2022; part of the permanent art collection of Of This Place in Gainesville. This exhibition is a community cultural asset, featuring 200 paintings by Irene Harris, a native of Gainesville. Her paintings express her life experience and her profound spiritual life. Harris' work draws heavily on African American traditions, including jumping broomsticks in her wedding scenes. Her paintings call on the audience to follow their own memories, and this communication becomes part of the work itself. Her work reminds the audience that revisiting the past can connect us with the present and the future.

"Our Changing Climate: Past and Present": Now on permanent display at the Florida Museum of Natural History; the free exhibition uses large-format charts showing major historical events to show the story of the Earth’s climate changing with geological time. Through the timeline, visitors can visualize and compare dinosaurs, megalodons, humans, ancient civilizations, and places more suitable for the Earth’s climate history. The exhibition was originally opened and has been reactivated to commemorate the release of the first part of the sixth assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which deals with the latest science of climate change, potential risks and options for the future of the planet.

Jaén Museum: Diverse Fields: Selected works from the collection of the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation. The exhibition aims to promote cultural understanding and educational dialogue between Latin American artists and global audiences. Plural Domains will span two venues, from now until April 24, 2022 at the Hahn Art Museum, and from now until December 3, 2021 at the University Gallery.

From Shadow to Matter: Now to February 2022, Melvin and Lorna Rubin Gallery, Hahn Museum, 3259 Hull Road. The exhibition uses historical photos collected in the Harn and Smathers library, and through the lens of black photographers working today, creates a chronological curve from the past to the present to the future.

Afternoon Adventure Camp: Every Wednesday at 2-5 pm at the Cade Museum at S. Main St 811. The opportunities this week will focus on challenges that stimulate children's creativity and imagination. The educators at the CapitaLand Museum help children aged 5-11 participate in a wide range of hands-on STEAM experiments and activities. In the Creative Lab and Fab Lab, children will explore and improve their skills in 3D design, coding, and robotics. Cade's educators will be able to help children from kindergarten to grade 5 cope with the challenges of homework. Registration is open. Members can enjoy discounted prices.

Matheson Museum: "When Johnny Goes Home: Outdoor Exhibition, located on the west side of Matheson’s main building, behind the banner of the Sweetwater branch. (378-2280, mathesonmuseum.org) The sculpture was designed by Ken Mc Gurn , Produced by Matthew Pollard. The exhibition pays tribute to all who have served. McGahn served in the Army and Army Reserves from 1963 to 1979. He was sent to Vietnam in 1965 and to Germany from 198 to 1970 .Current live and online exhibitions include "Pioneers: 150 Years of Women in Alachua County," celebrating the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote in the United States; McCarthy's moment: Florida's John Committee exhibited online and in person.
