Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news from NottinghamshireLive

Welcome to Wednesday's Nottingham Forest transfer news live blog from NottinghamshireLive.

It is set to be a busy summer for Nottingham Forest and head coach Steve Cooper as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League. A whole host of players have been linked, with Manchester City's Issa Kabore and Liverpool's Neco Williams, among the latest.

Djed Spence, the now former Forest loanee, is being linked with a transfer to Tottenham, while James Garner has broken silence on his future after returning to Manchester United.

Former Red Jamaal Lascelles has been linked with a return in the transfer window as Newcastle step up their hunt for a new central defender. He left Forest for Newcastle seven years ago and fans are far from keen to see him return.

Nottingham Forest loanee James Garner has reminisced on last season for club and country on social media after his commitments with England under-21s came to an end.

Since playing a part in helping the Reds secure Premier League promotion with a win in the Championship play-off final, the Manchester United loanee has been on international duty with the Young Lions. Garner took his total to seven caps for Lee Carsley's side last time out.

The 21-year-old, who has time on his side to add to that tally after only celebrating his birthday in March, started crucial European Championship qualifiers against Czech Republic and Slovenia, which saw England qualify for next summer's finals tournament. Garner will be eligible to play in that tournament as he comes in well after the 1 January 2000 cut-off point by more than a year.

Nottingham Forest will reportedly not play a match between Boxing Day and New Years' Eve with the Premier League to scrap the fourth festive fixture for this upcoming season.

Matches often played between the two days on or around December 28, which was matchweek 20 last season, are said to be being moved to elsewhere in the calendar due to the short turnaround for this year's World Cup. After pausing on November 13, the Premier League will return on December 26, only eight days after the final.

The scrapping of this round of matches is apparently to ease player burnout after the tournament. All will be revealed tomorrow morning when the top-flight fixtures are released at 9am.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that no more season cards are to be sold ahead of next season in the Premier League just 18 days after promotion was achieved at Wembley Stadium in the Championship play-off final.

Tomorrow (Thursday 16th June) is when the top-flight fixtures are released at 9am, though this is only provisional until the broadcasters make their first batch of television picks next month. Only then, in July, will ticket information be confirmed by the Reds regarding the availability of home tickets.

That is now one of the only options open for supporters not in possession of a season card after the sale of them has been ended following discussions with the Premier League. The club have outlined the reasons behind that decision.

Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to bring Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson to the club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported the Reds are working on a loan deal for the one-cap England international with a view to a permanent £20m transfer. Nottinghamshire Live understands the Reds are hoping to complete a transfer with the suggestion being that Henderson is keen on the move after playing second fiddle to David de Gea.

If a deal does go through, it would have major implications on Forest with Henderson - and United - likely to expect first team football for a player who is now 25. Brice Samba faces an uncertain future with reports suggesting he will not sign a new contract as he enters the final 12 months of his deal, however, the club insist they still want him extend his stay. He has been strongly linked with a return to France with Lens.

French outfit Nantes have no interest in signing Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba this summer.

Samba, 28, has one year left on his current deal at the City Ground, but he has reportedly turned down the Reds' offer of an extension. Forest want to retain the shot-stopper's services but - after three seasons at the club - he could leave this summer.

But according to Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Samba is "not in the sights" of Nantes and no offer has been made by the Ligue 1 outfit, as had been claimed.

Djed Spence has explained his summer plans amid plenty of transfer talk surrounding his immediate future. The 21-year-old wing-back is the subject of transfer interest from a number of clubs, including Nottingham Forest, after his excellent loan spell at the City Ground last season.

It has been an incredibly busy season for the young Middlesbrough defender, playing 53 matches throughout the campaign for Boro, Forest and at England Under-21 level.

Reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Cyle Larin has previously spoken about an intense desire to compete at the "highest level", including his wanting of a move to Europe.

Larin, 27, is leaving Turkish side Besiktas this summer after rejecting a new contract. In a somewhat strange turn of events, the Canadian international has removed any sign of his relationship with the Super Lig outfit by deleting every picture related to Besiktas from his Instagram account - it has led to some supporters of the club calling him "ungrateful".

Speaking back in 2017 when he was playing for MLS side Orlando, he told the Orlando Sentinel: " I think I'm at the right place to go play in Europe and it's the right time."

Nottingham Forest fans are not best pleased to see their team linked to Besiktas striker Cyle Larin.

The 27-year-old Canadian striker is leaving the Turkish club and has been branded "ungrateful" by their fans after deleting all pictures related to the club from his Instagram account. Reports in Turkey say he will join either Forest or Olympiacos this summer.

Nottingham Forest could be on the verge of signing Besiktas striker Cyle Larin.

The 27-year-old Canada international is leaving the Turkish club this summer after rejecting a new contract. His decision to leave has turned somewhat sour, with Larin deleting every picture related to Besiktas from his Instagram account. That reaction has led to Besiktas fans slamming the striker, calling him "ungrateful".

Manchester United loanee James Garner says he has no hesitations over Djed Spence's ability to play in the Premier League amid intense talk about his future.

Spence has spent the past season on loan with Forest having joined on a temporary basis from Middlesbrough. The 21-year-old contributed two goals and five assists in the Championship in 2021-22.

Nottingham Forest loanee James Garner thinks he has done enough to prove any doubters wrong after his spell at the City Ground.

Garner, 21, has spent the past 18 months on Trentside having first signed on-loan in January 2021, a signing under then-Forest boss Chris Hughton.

Nottingham Forest have been joined by two Premier League rivals in their interest of Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon.

The 24-year-old defender has been identified as a transfer target in order to bolster the Reds' central options at the City Ground.

According to reports, however, the Reds will be rivaled by Fulham and Wolves in wanting to sign the Wales international.

Nottingham Forest transfer target Arnaud Kalimuendo has reportedly rejected a move to the City Ground.

The 20-year-old scored 12 goals in 34 league appearances whilst on-loan from PSG to fellow Ligue 1 side RC Lens last season.

Former Huddersfield Town boss Neil Warnock hopes referees are "working on upping their game" ahead of the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

Warnock, 73, has been enjoying his retirement ever since stepping away from football back in April 2022. Whilst he may no longer be as active in the dug-outs, he continues to take a critical approach towards match officials - which is particularly timely given Forest's win over Huddersfield two weeks ago.

West Brom, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday have all been in 'contact' with Newcastle United over a potential loan deal for Elliot Anderson - who has been on Nottingham Forest's radar - according to The Northern Echo.

The Daily Mirror reported in April that Forest were one of several clubs looking at the 19-year-old, who enjoyed a highly impressive loan spell in League Two with Bristol Rovers last season.

Eddie Howe wants to assess the versatile midfielder in pre-season before the Magpies decide whether to loan him out again or give him a chance in the first team next term.

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath has opened the door to leaving the club after admitting there is "uncertainty" surrounding his future at the City Ground.

The 27-year-old is keen to find more game time ahead of the World Cup in November with a place in the US squad up for grabs. In a recent interview he said he is "in close contact" with Forest about a potential move, but would stay if he were a regular starter next season.

Djed Spence has "expressed a preference" to join Tottenham Hotspur over Nottingham Forest and other interested clubs this summer, it has been claimed.

The 21-year-old Middlesbrough player is said to favour Tottenham over "other suitors", of whom Forest are one. Both clubs are interested in signing the 21-year-old on a permanent basis after his impressive loan season for the Reds in the Championship last term.

Nottingham Forest have a "greater chance" of signing Keinan Davis than other clubs interested in the Aston Villa striker, it has been claimed.

The striker was on loan at Forest last season and scored five goals in 18 league games after arriving on New Year's Day. He played a key roll as Forest earned promotion back to the Premier League through the play-offs, though his future is now a little uncertain.

Nantes have "made a bid" for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba, according to a report.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has told Forest he will not be signing a new contract, with his current deal set to expire next summer, although Forest say they want talks to continue. After three seasons at the club, he could leave this summer and a return to France is seemingly on the cards.

Nottingham Forest promotion heroes Djed Spence and James Garner were booed when they played for England Under-21s at the home of Huddersfield Town on Monday.

The duo were key members of the Forest team that defeated Huddersfield in the play-off final at Wembley last month, as they saw out their spells on loan from Middlesbrough and Manchester United respectively. With the Young Lions in action at the John Smiths' Stadium, it seems local supporters are still bitter about that day at Wembley.

Fixtures for the 2022/23 Premier League have supposedly been 'leaked' on social media ahead of the official release. The full schedule for Nottingham Forest's first season in the top flight for 23 years is set to be released at 9am on Thursday.

The so-called 'leaked' fixtures have been circulating across social media over the past 24 hours, with the leak showing the opening eight rounds of fixtures from August 6 to September 24.

Fans across the country are anticipating the release of next season's calendar, with supporters keen to learn who their side will face on the opening day, across the festive period and on the final game of the season.

The Reds will take part in the Premier League for the first time in 23 years after defeating Huddersfield Town 1-0 at Wembley. Preparations have already started for next season, with the futures of Djed Spence, Brennan Johnson and James Garner all to be decided.

Nottingham Forest fans have given their reaction to the club’s interest in Liverpool full-back Neco Williams.

Reports over the weekend linked the Reds with a move for the Wales international with speculation surrounding the future of Djed Spence. NottinghamshireLive understands that the interest in Williams is real with Forest also taking an interest in Manchester City full-back Issa Kabore.

It is said that Williams would cost in the region of £15 million, less than Middlesbrough's asking price for Spence. Although Liverpool are not desperate to sell this summer, the arrival of Calvin Ramsey, who looks set to move from Aberdeen, could make a sale more likely.

Nottingham Forest are showing an interest in two full-backs as alternatives to Djed Spence this summer.

Spence excelled on loan at the City Ground last season, his performances catching the eye as he helped the Reds secure promotion back to the Premier League through the play-offs. Forest are keen to make the move permanent this summer, but face significant competition for the wing-back.

Reports over the weekend claimed that Tottenham were closing in on a £20m move for the Middlesbrough man, however, it is understood advanced talks are yet to take place with any team. Should Spence complete a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it means that Forest will move onto other potential targets.

Journalists, like players, come and go when it comes to football clubs, but a few do cement the status of something of a cult hero.

Nottingham is lucky to have two of them. The late, great Colin Slater went beyond that and became an icon of Notts County for his decades of commentary on the Magpies. And it is fair to predict that when Colin Fray retires, he will also attain the same status for his sterling work on Nottingham Forest.

Fray has followed Forest through thin and occasionally thick, but the chance to commentate on the Reds at Wembley had eluded him for 30 years of covering the club, starting with a 7-0 win over Chelsea in 1991 before he went on to become the regular commentator for BBC Radio Nottingham.

Now he has finally done it, having been the voice of Forest's 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final. While there were tears in the stands, Fray says he managed to keep his emotions in check after the final whistle, just.

"You keep it together," he told the latest Garibaldi Red podcast. "I know sometimes it goes viral when commentators start blubbing on air. There were moments when I had to usher Hodgey (Steve Hodge) to the mic - say something Hodgey!

"I think the one that really got me when I saw Joe Worrall in tears on the pitch three or four minutes after the final whistle. You could see it hitting him what it meant. I almost went then, but not quite!

"There was an added weight (going into the game). You knew there could be club defining and history-changing moments over the next 90 or 120 minutes.

"I don't suppose I really felt pressure because I've done it for a long time, but the adrenaline was going and I knew that when those moments came I had to get it right. You don't want to mess up things that will be replayed in 30 years on Radio Nottingham.

Nottingham Forest will be coming up against Erling Haaland next season after the striker's move to Manchester City was confirmed.

Nottingham Forest will come up against Haaland next term after securing their place back in the Premier League via the Championship play-offs. A 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium last month secured their place back in the division for the first time in 23 years.

Norwegian international Haaland is the son of Alf-Inge Haaland, whose own playing career included spells with Forest, Leeds United and Man City. As a result, Haaland junior apparently has something of a soft spot for all three clubs, having been born in Leeds and spending his first few years in England before moving to Norway.

The reigning Premier League champions announced on Monday the highly-rated 21-year-old striker wIll join them on July 1, after signing a five-year contract at the club. It is understood that the player will cost a fee of £51.1million after City triggered his release clause.

Nottingham Forest supporters have made their feelings clear amid reports linking Jamaal Lascelles with a return to the City Ground.

There is talk that Forest are interested in the defender, who could be set to leave Newcastle if they sign a top centre-half during the summer transfer window as planned.
