Edwin Van der Sar denies that Ajax is interested in Dean Henderson | Yard Buck

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will not join Ajax on loan in January.

Van der Sar, the Ajax executive and former Manchester United star, denied that Ajax is interested in signing the shot finisher next month.

"I heard that now you can pay 2,000 euros a month and hire media agencies to release good news about players to the world," Van der Sar told Voetbal Primeur.

"I'm talking about social media, so to speak. Whether you're from South America or Eastern Europe, you keep in constant contact with players. But no, it makes no sense."

But is it really meaningless?

Henderson has only played twice this season and has the potential to become the leading goalkeeper in football.

Ajax's current goalkeeper situation is far from ideal.

Andre Onana has only recently recovered from the doping ban, and the Cameroon international has no contract in June. When asked if Onana would sign a new contract with the Eredivisie club, Van der Sar added: "In fact, the result is really sad. He walked out the door without a transfer, Aja Kers was not blamed either.

"We have sat with him many times to extend his contract, including during the suspension. It did nothing, it hurts me personally. It also hurts the club. Am I disappointed in him? Yes. The arbitration case. After that, you also expect to get some rewards."

Ajax coach Eric Ten Hager has become a strong candidate for Manchester United's job!

In addition, Ajax's substitute goalkeeper Martin Steklunberg missed the season due to a hip injury in August. Manchester United fans should remember this name, because before David De Gea signed, he was one of the goalkeepers who replaced Edwin Van der Sar at Manchester United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, during Solskjaer’s tenure as Manchester United coach, exploratory negotiations on loan transfers were held, but Ralph Rangnick’s plan for Henderson remains to be seen.

My preference is to let Henderson leave on loan next month-but not permanently, because he is still very likely to replace De Gea one day.
