Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will not join Ajax on loan in January.

Van der Sar, the Ajax executive and former Manchester United star, denied that Ajax is interested in signing the shot finisher next month.

"I heard that now you can pay 2,000 euros a month and hire media agencies to release good news about players to the world," Van der Sar told Voetbal Primeur.

"I'm talking about social media, so to speak. Whether you're from South America or Eastern Europe, you keep in constant contact with players. But no, it makes no sense."

But is it really meaningless?

Henderson has only played twice this season and has the potential to become the leading goalkeeper in football.

Ajax's current goalkeeper situation is far from ideal.

Andre Onana has only recently recovered from the doping ban, and the Cameroon international has no contract in June. When asked if Onana would sign a new contract with the Eredivisie club, Van der Sar added: "In fact, the result is really sad.
